How A Donegal Welding Company Became A Supplier To The Marine Industry On FIVE Continents

The Client
MMG Ocean was established in 2005 and is based in the fishing port of Killybegs in County Donegal, offering coded welding and  Marine Fabrication Service. ISO 9001:2015 quality accredited the company provide specialist welding services to various industries including Marine, Off Shore Construction, and Civil Engineering projects. Locally, MMG Ocean and the owner Martin McGuinness would be well known and respected, so local  work comes in constantly from loyal, happy clients.

The Supplier
Having already engaged a few different website designers, Martin sought a recommendation from a respected Business Mentor in Galway and got recommended to MEANit. After looking at their portfolio of work, and having a conversation with Michael, he decided this was the right supplier. “MEANit did their research, they understood what we wanted to do and showed us how much potential there was for us, if we harnessed some of the power of having a professional web presence“.

The Brief
MMG already had a website. It looked okay, but did nothing for the business. Martin decided he wanted a web presence that reflected the current size of the company and the quality of the work they do. He is very proud of his team and the work they do, for some very big clients in Killybegs and some very constant clients. Plus he had recently invented the ‘Compact Gangway’, so this new innovation needed to become a bigger part of the story and be seen outside the port.

The Approach
We built a theme designed, business website that focused on the preferred two professional welding services and the one product in the Compact Gangway. Using great photography and videography from Mullaney Media, we populated the website and the sparks in the photos seem to jump from the pages. We optimised for these two services and the Gangway. Then we trained one of the client directors on managing their own new site. After that we worked together on the Social Channels to promote MMG Ocean and the Compact Gangway to a targeted audience.

The Results for MMG
Within the first weeks, we got traction with the target audience, with good enquiries for the Compact Gangway. Martin also got nominated for Donegal Business Awards and then short listed and interviewed by a panel, who complimented him on his website. And then he won the outright prize for best established business 2018. Now, he will go forward to the National finals 2019 to compete for that award. During this process he was complimented on his new website. The site ranks extremely well for all agreed keywords and terms. Now MMG Ocean look online the way they are offline, professional and innovative.
Meantime, enquiries come nationally in from Dublin, Cork, Galway, but also internationally from the UK, Asia and South America. MMG are exporting their Compact Gangway and getting marine welding work from some very substantial companies.

The Results for MEANit
We have a happy client who is already referring us and has engaged us for another project. The MMG Ocean website is on a Care Plan and we are actively working with MMG on SEO and their overall Digital Marketing.
