Trying or Buying – what is Showrooming?

Showrooming is examining or trying on products in a traditional brick and mortar shop and then buying online to get a better price. Online is cheaper as it has lower overheads,

because they do not have the same overhead costs.

Having a Bricks & Mortar shop now means you have unfair competition, unless you offer other allied services or expertise or have own Brand product.

Some Retailers use their Bricks & Mortar stores as Showrooms on purpose and are happy that customers then order from their Online presence for Home Delivery or even Click and Collect at the store. Some shops only hold limited “Test” stock, so once a customer finds what they want they order online right there in the store or later at home. Trying and Buying instore is usually followed by a home delivery.
